The Rangiroa Diving Center Philosophy
We do not build our dives around a fixed schedule, but around the ocean. Every trip is designed to offer the best possible conditions for observation, safety and comfort.
Our philosophy
At Rangiroa Diving Center, we create the best conditions for an authentic encounter with the ocean. We adapt to the ocean, never the ocean to our dives.
You do not simply come to book a dive: you come to live an experience built around the ocean, safety, respect for the environment and the understanding of marine life. This page explains not only what we do, but above all why we do it.
Our approach to safety
Every dive is adapted to the divers' actual level and to the conditions of the day. We ask for proof of your certification before you dive, and we build groups of homogeneous levels whenever possible.
If you have not logged a dive for a year or more, your first dive is a refresher in the lagoon. Deep or drift dives are preceded by a reef dive limited to 20 metres. These are not formalities: they are the rules that keep every diver in the right place, in good conditions.
We follow the ocean
Tides, the lunar cycle and currents determine our dives, never a fixed schedule.
On northern Rangiroa, the Tiputa and Avatoru passes are traversed several times a day by strong currents, driven by the alternation of flood tide (incoming current) and ebb tide (outgoing current). This breathing of the ocean decides the right moment and the right site: we dive when conditions are at their best, not when a calendar decided it in advance.

Our vision of Green Diving
Observe without disturbing. Understand before photographing. Respect before consuming.
We never guarantee a sighting: our role is to create the best possible conditions for encounters; nature remains free. This standard, developed with the NGO PACT for Wildlife and studied for more than 15 years in Rangiroa with Pamela Carzon and the Rangiroa Dolphins NGO, is written in black and white in our charter.
Our approach to Nitrox
For us, Nitrox is an approach that favours comfort, safety and the quality of the experience whenever it suits the diver. We include it in the price of our dives, and we never impose it.
In Rangiroa, the nearest hyperbaric chamber is in Tahiti: reducing decompression-related risks is not a luxury, it is common sense.
Our commitment to preserving the marine environment
We do not drop anchor on coral: we use mooring buoys. We limit the number of divers on a site, we share objective knowledge about ecosystems, and we support local conservation NGOs.
Tiputa Pass is an oasis of biodiversity. It will remain one if those who visit it respect it: that is the meaning of every one of the 16 points of our charter.
